West Park, located on Avenida del Cid, was built on the grounds of the former Air Force Barracks, and was inaugurated in 1995.
This park has an area of about 43,800 m2.
The park is managed by the Municipal Public Foundation for Unique Parks and Gardens.
Inside the park there are tracks for practicing sports and a children's playground, it also has two kiosks with toilets. In its central part it has an esplanade with an auditorium.
An old combat plane has been installed as a decoration in the park, a reminder of the previous use of these lands as an aviation barracks.
From the central esplanade of the park there are several paths, each bordered by a different type of tree.
The area closest to Avenida del Cid is more wooded, highlighting the Aleppo, Laricio and Rodeno pines; next to cypresses, olive trees and palm hearts.
Ten years later, after the inauguration of the first metro line (1988), the line between Alameda and Avenida del Cid was inaugurated.
In 1999, the 2.4-kilometre tunnel between Avenida del Cid and Mislata was inaugurated.
In 2003, the underground section of the line between Alameda and Ayora was inaugurated.
And in 2007, the section between the Marítimo-Serrería underground station and the Airport (port-airport line) was inaugurated.
The terminus crosses marked the limits of the city on the roads that left it. That of Mislata was on the road that went to Castile through the Sierra de las Cabrillas. It was renovated in the fifteenth century, with the participation of the carver Johan Lobet, who also worked on the Covered Cross.
